Pleneau & Charcot Islands

Lemaire Strait. Often blocked by ice, we try to access it and it's a success

The seals bask on the pieces of ice floes which are numerous here

At the exit of the strait, a white chionis comes to rest on the point, to observe us for a moment, strange creatures that we are

We anchor (and mooring lines) next to the island of Pléneau in a small bay protected from large icebergs

When we arrive, there is almost no ice in this little dead end

But the tide gradually brings back the pieces of ice floes

The place then fills up every day with the tide and sometimes you can't see the water anymore.

This set of islands is a haven of peace for walks or kayaking

The first sunsets

Sea ice is omnipresent in this region

That makes the seals happy

The island of Charcot, where the first wintering of the boat Le Français took place. I recommend the book of this expedition
